Error 0x80070652 : 3 Ways to fix in Windows 7/8/8.1 & 10

Windows Users may Get Error code 0x80070652 While Installing Updates in Windows 7/8/8.1 or Windows 10. Some users may also experience this Error while installing some other Programs like Visual studio.

Method 1: System Restore.

If you already have a System Restore point created, then take your PC to Previous system restore point to fix this 0x80070652 error code on your system. To Check if you have a restore point and to use that restore point, follow below steps.

Step 1: Search your PC for "Create a Restore point."

Step 2: Click on the search result which shows up. A New window will open up just like below picture.

Step 3: Click on "System Protection" tab and click on "System Restore..." Click on Next.

Step 4: A list of all Restore point will be shown with date and time.

Step 5: Select a point from the list(select latest one) and click on Next.

Step 6: Click on Finish, Let it work and complete, This may take some time.

Method 2: Clean Boot.

This is another good way to fix multiple issues at a time. Clean boot will allow you to load only Microsoft services and no third party programs. Many times Third party Services Conflicts each other and resulting in to errors while doing regular tasks on PC.

By Clean Booting your PC, we Ensure, there is nothing that conflicts and results in 0x80070652 error code. To Clean Boot your PC follow below steps.

  • Type "msconfig" in search bar and click on it.
  • A System Configuration window will open up. Click on Services tab.
  • Check "Hide all Microsoft Services" box which can be found at bottom left side of the window.
  • Now click on Disable all.
  • Now, Open Task Manager by Right clicking on task bar and click on Task manager option.
  • Jump to Startup tab in Task manager dialog box.
  • Here, Disable all the programs that are enabled while booting your PC.

Method 3: Refresh your PC.

Refresh option is there for a reason. It is very helpful when your computer starts behaving awkwardly. Meaning, Starts throwing error codes because some where deep there must be a corrupt system file causing issues.

If you are someone who downloads and installs lot of softwares and uninstalls them after some time, Then you should do a refresh. Each time you Install and uninstall programs, Registry entries are disturbed.

So Doing a PC Refresh will give you a nice new start and will ensure that there is no Corrupt Files on the system. To Refresh your PC, Do this:

  1. Search your PC for "Refresh"
  2. You will see "Refresh your PC without affecting your files" option. Click on it.
  3. Now, Just click on 1st "Get started" button and follow some easy on screen instructions.

After a while it will show you that Refreshing process has finished and you are now left with a Fresh Operating system. This can be done on Windows 8 and 8.1 without any issue. Make sure you backup your important files/data if you have any from C:\.
